Ahead of the approaching holiday season, Disney+ has brought back two iconic Christmas movies after they were notably absent from the streamer.

‘Tis the season to be streaming those annual holiday movies now that Halloween has come and gone; and for many, Disney+ is a go-to platform for a number of seasonal classics.

U.S. subscribers previously noted that two beloved Christmas movies were shockingly missing from the streamer. Luckily, they’re back where they belong.

Disney+ Brings Back 2 Holidays Movies

For a brief moment, Kevin McCallister wasn’t just home alone. He wasn’t home at all.

Fans noticed that Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York were no longer streaming on Disney+, with the 1990 Christmas comedy and its 1992 sequel both removed at some point in October.

However, franchise spin-offs, such as Home Alone 4, Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, and Home Sweet Home Alone were still being offered on the streaming service.

Naturally, the removal of these Christmas classics angered U.S. Disney+ subscribers as the traditional time of year to revisit the films is rapidly approaching.

What was even more puzzling about this decision was that Home Alone‘s Kevin McCallister was featured in an ad for Disney+’s Christmas-themed “Happy Holidays” collection, despite none of his films being offered.

However, the movies have since been restored to the service, now being available just in time for the festive season.

Disney confirmed to The Direct that Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York‘s brief removals were the result of a licensing deal. With this being addressed, the movies are now able to remain on Disney+ for the foreseeable future.

Previously, some speculated that Disney+ removed them for a time with the intention of bringing back them as part of a December promotion.

This is something Disney+ has done before in order to market a returning film as a new release and possibly generate new subscribers.

What Else is Disney+ Streaming For the Holidays?

Disney+ already has a huge catalog of festive films for families to enjoy, from the likes The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol, and The Santa Clause movies.

The latter of those franchises also has a new season releasing just in time for Christmas, with The Santa Clauses Season 2 launching on Disney+ on November 16.

While the MCU doesn’t have a holiday entry this year, fans can still enjoy its Christmas-themed projects like Iron Man 3, Hawkeye, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Fans can enjoy all of these movies and shows, including Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, now on Disney+.
